Bunnie Loves: Joe Fresh Lip Stain

Joe Fresh is one of my favourite brands for drugstore makeup because they are affordable and the quality is great for the price. Best of all, it's a CANADIAN brand! If you live in Canada, you'd be familiar with Joe Fresh as a clothing brand but the designer, Joe Mimran, decided to tackle beauty products (read the story here). The product line ranges from foundations (powder-, liquid-form) to bronzers and blushes (stick-, powder-form) to eyeshadows, liners, mascara to lipsticks (cream., matte), lip stains, and much more. They even carry manicure kits and brushes! But the amazing thing is everything is priced from $4-$8CAD with exception to the brushes and accessories. This was a little over a year ago and Joe Fresh has now expanded to carrying bath and body care products as well as nail polishes. I'm quite excited to see what he does next =D

Looks like I got a little carried away there. Back to the lip stain review. The lip stains come in 6 colours that are part of the Classic Collection (meaning that it's permanent) and last winter, they released some wintery colours. I was lucky enough to pick one up. They had: grapefruit (pinky coral), tangerine (light orange), red (self explanatory), lilac (bright fuchsia purple), berry (deep plumish red) and some others that I can't recall. I went to Loblaw today and there were still some of the winter colours left =] It costs $6CAD which is a reasonable price. Well, sadly, Joe Fresh is exclusive and you can only find it in Canada (Superstore and Loblaw). But thats ok. Get your Canadian buddies to get you some or just come here yourself. It's a good idea, eh?

(c'mon laugh with me)

(fine..don't)

It claims:
"Glides on effortlessly over lips, leaving behind a flush of colour that’s natural and easy to control. Lasts up to 6 hours. Dries to a matte finish."

I really like the packaging. It's simple and to the point. The translucent plastic is tinted so that it stays true to the actual colour of the lip stain and it is often accurate.
the cap has a special seal kinda thing so that it doesn't dry up as easily. I've had one for about a year and it's still as inky ^_^ The tip is like a rounded marker which makes application easy. they are light weight in formula and it provides a subtle hue which can be layered for desired intensity. It dries fast to a matte finish so you'll have to work quick! Like any lip stain, it grabs onto any dead of dry skin so make sure to prep your lips before hand!
When I use this, i like to line my lips and smudge into my lips so that it looks natural. I then fill in my lips with a swipe and blend it with my index or ring finger ^^ Lip stains generally are long lasting and drying. I don't find this formula overly drying and it lasts for about 3-5 hours depending on what you do...i.e. eating seafood...I've read reviews that said it lasts for almost the whole day. But I guess it differs from person to person, as I tend to put only a little bit on. Each one carries a nice fresh scent that reminds me of apples. I was hoping that the scent would correspond to the name/shade but i guess not.

The finer swatch is heavily swatched while the other one is just one swipe ^^ These lip stains are perfect for on-the-go because they are adorably tiny and will fit into any cosmetic pouch or purse pocket. lip stains are awesome for the summer months. be it biking, shopping swimming, they last longer than gloss or lipsticks.

Overall, I would recommend these lip stains. They have great shades and they're buildable. Provides a perfect pop of colour without totally drying your lips and for the price of 6 dollars each, you can't beat it!
